Agile coaching contract: how to have the best commitment?
Ensuring the team commitment is definitely a hard task, people need a good motivation to keep up until the end. For a good agile transformation, the coach requires a total respect to the coaching contract, otherwise, he can end the coaching at any time. Agile coaches prefer working with hard working and serious teams, who want to progress and evolve in their careers.
Why the agile coaching contract?
As simple as it is, the agile coaching contract, done by the coach, contains the details and the process that the teams have to know for a good collaboration. With the team, the coach determines their measurable goals that need to be achieved. Then, he plans these goals according to the given time, and shortlists the different actions to follow during this journey.
The coach determines in his contract, different stages to achieve the goals, and it could last from 3 to 6 months. He can add more time or start a new contract, if needed. Once the contract is ready, the coach and the team organize a meeting to understand the different clauses. During the contract, the coach follows up frequently with the team to check up their progress and if they respect the contract guidelines or not.
At the end, the coach checks with the team if all the goals are achieved.
The end is another beginning, the coach keeps in touch with the team to see their progress after the coaching, and if they need other objectives, he can prepare another contract. Otherwise, the coach ends his commitment if he thinks that the team is not interested.
The agile coaching contract seems to be a very sensitive business between the coach and the team, commitment is very important for a successful coaching. The coach is neither the friend nor the enemy of the team, he joins the team for a mission, which is to accompany them to a change that will be useful for the company.
