As we have previously seen in the Scrum Beginner’s Guide, the first and most important Scrum event is the Sprint Planning.
Sprint Planning is considered the main event in a Sprint, in which the Scrum Team sets their Sprint Backlog. This Backlog determines the final objective of the Sprint. Obviously, the Scrum Team could fall into many pitfalls during this event.
First of all, timeboxing this event sound like an easy thing to many Scrum trainees or even experts. Therefore, the Scrum Team could have a bad time dealing with a tough plan. Regardless of the Scrum Team skills, they could end up oversetting timeboxes.
In addition, the Team members could provide a false estimation of their capacities to complete and determine how many Product Backlog Items they could deliver. It could lead to an uncompleted Sprint Backlog due to the complexity.
Never pretend you know more than you do.
Focusing at the output instead of the outcome is also a common mistake.By adding clear, measurable results to the user story, the outcomes can be clearly measured, and you know when you are done. By the way, the concept of “Done” needs to be transparent to avoid suspicions.
